VGBC F.A.I.T.H.Riders Motorcycle Ministry Group Ride
7 riders, 244 miles, 8 hours

Our ride this day was mostly spectacular, but it didn’t start out that way. Climbing up towards Monument on Highway 83, a cold 41° fog thickened until only two bikes ahead were visible until after we were north of Larkspur.

We had seven riders this day with Paul Brandenstein leading as road captain. The George’s joined us as first time group riders, along with a fellow F.A.I.T.H.Rider from Tennessee named Jonesy, so the ride was distinctive in several ways.

By the time we reached Deer Creek Park, the temp thankfully rose to 50° and we now had a comfortable ride into the mountains.

The goal was then to make our way across Hwy 285 to Kenosha Pass. The Aspen Grove Scenic Overlook has an exceptional view of the fall colors, as can be seen in the gallery photos.

By this time, one motorcycle began sputtering, possibly because of the altitude at 9800 feet, electrical issues, or both. This limited our ride speed remaining to 60mph since the sputtering would continue in fifth gear. We made our way to Fairplay for a gas stop, then proceeded back to Jackson to head down Hwy 77 and Tarryall Rd. This was also a gorgeous ride with big boulders, awesome mountain ranges, and valleys with rivers running through.

We stopped at Fat BBQ Shack in Lake George for a lunch, which all said was delicious, highly recommended.

Returning home, we ran into hail, but were back on the road in 20 minutes.

Thank you to each rider for making this day a success. All glory to God for the creation we each experienced along the way.
